Easter Lily
The Easter Lily (Lilium longiflorum Thunb. Liliaceae), is a native of Japan and its center of origin is apparently Japan's three small southernmost islands. Although this white or trumpet Lily was found under cultivation on the mainland of China and Formosa by early Western explorers, it is only endemic to the Liu-chiu (Ryukus) Islands and is unknown in the wild state elsewhere. Lily is a member of the lily family, which has 80 to 90 species. This plant is native to North American temperature zones.

Purchase when the most mature flower is in the white, puffy stage. This stage is when sepals and petals look the same, they look white and puffy, but before they are open.
Growing and Maintenance Tips:
Do not discard your Easter Lily as it will surprise you: after danger of frost plant lily with old stem in place in outdoor garden. Old stem will disappear and new shoot will emerge and bloom in autumn. After blooming remove bulb and store in pure peat for next season. Don't allow to feeze. Temperature - Provide 65° to 75°F ( 18° to 24°C) temperatures. Location - Place plants in an east, south or west window or in an atrium for maximum flower life. Avoid direct sunlight. Irrigation - Water plants regularly to avoid drying out, but don't overwater. Grooming - Remove all dead flowers. Light - Keep plants in a high (50 to 100 fc; .5 to 1.1 klux) light area.
